Where Else But Queensland

On the Tuesday before Easter, I was sitting at playgroup while I watched Declan playing and I got a phone call from Benn saying that he has finished with all the work that he wanted to do and he has just put a leave application in so this Friday we would drive up to Queensland and spend Easter with the family.

So, the next 48 hours was full of making arrangements around here so our family could go to Queensland for Easter. On Friday, we woke up bright and early, jumped in the car and travelled up to Queensland. With stops at Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour, Ballina and Gold Coast. We finally got to our desination about about 3.30pm. We didn't really do much, the first night because we were so exhausted by our travels.

Saturday morning when we woke up, Lynne and I went and took the kids for a walk on the beach (Benn's mum and brothers live 5 mins walk away from the beach and shops). We then heard that Benn's Uncle John who is driving a taxi at the moment was at the shops so we went to say hello to him and talked to him for a little bit. Then it was off to the shops at Kawana to buy easter eggs because Benn left ours behind in the little fridge. They haven't really been eaten yet. After we were finished at Kawana, we went to see Benn's Nana at the nursing home and introduce her to her only great-granddaughter. She loved having cuddles and Tahlia was all smiles.

After we were all finished there, we went home for relaxation time. Saturday night, Benn & I took the advantage of leaving the 2 kids with Benn's Mum while we went out on a date, first time since Miss Tahlia was born. We went out to tea to the Pig and Whistle followed by seeing Monsters vs Aliens and then Cold Rock for icecream. We then decided to come home, finding that little Miss Tahlia refusing to go to bed and crying the whole entire time. Once I put her in bed, she was fine after that.

Sunday was pretty much a relaxing day, we were suppose to go to Conference Video's but due to the time of the Conference interferring with the kids nap time, we decided to give it a miss. We sat at home, ate Easter Eggs and talked. It was a really nice day not having to rush around and do everything. In the afternoon, we went and introduced Tahlia to the Sticklen family. We enjoyed going over there and Declan enjoyed spending time running around getting into things.

Monday, Alicia (Benn's sister) came up for the day from Brisbane. She loved spending time with her nephew and niece because she hasn't spent much time with them. We then hit the Sunshine Plaza which was absolutely crowded, followed by Sizzler. When we came home, that was it. We were not going out again. It was pouring heavily with rain.

Tuesday was our time relaxing and getting ready for the day ahead, driving home. I went to the gym and we spent our last day spending time with family. Queensland was a great trip and was very much needed holiday. We enjoyed up there even though it rained the whole entire time. Queensland especially the Sunshine Coast has a special significance to it. If it wasn't for the Sunshine Coast, I wouldn't have met my wonderful husband or have my 2 beautiful children by my side.
